ROBERT SMIBERT, President & CEO

Robert Smibert, with more than 25 years of experience in telecommunications and technology, founded Virgin Technologies in 2001 after serving as Director & Chief Technology Officer for Saflink Corporation (NASDAQ:SFLK). Rob lead a team of over 40 software engineers and R&D personnel and transformed the Company's technology vision, exposing many new opportunities for the Company's biometric products.

Prior to Saflink, Rob was co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Jotter Technologies, where he developed the Internet's first "e-Wallet" application which PC World Magazine dubbed as better than Microsoft's Passport and Novelle's Digital Me products. Rob was instrumental in the sale of Jotter Technologies to Saflink Corporation and remained as Managing Director of Jotter Technologies, managing investor's interests and debt reconciliation.

Rob's extensive experience also includes technology innovation and management roles with RedCell, a Canadian battery startup, and Acu-Trol Canada, an aquatic automation equipment company Smibert founded in 1994 and sold in 1997.

ROSS KELLY, Chief Financial Officer

Ross Kelly joined Virgin Technologies in 2009. Ross has held a number of senior positions over the last ten years including CFO of XS Cargo Income Fund, President and CFO of Remington Tire Distributors Inc. and CFO of Tirecraft Auto Centers Ltd. 

Ross holds an MBA from the University of Alberta and is a Certified Management Accountant.

JUSTIN MILLER, Chief Technology Officer

Justin Miller joined Virgin Technologies in 2003 as a Field Engineer, was shortly thereafter appointed IT Manager, and was appointed CTO in 2005. Justin’s primary responsibility is researching and developing new, innovative communications solutions for the Company’s markets.

Justin has extensive experience in telecommunications at all stages of product development from design and prototyping through installation and network integration. Prior to joining Virgin Technologies, Justin was the Lead Field Tester for ATI Telecom where he tested and troubleshot Nortel CDMA, TDMA and AMPS cellular base station equipment. He also worked for Nortel Networks, factory testing digital cellular base station equipment, and Microlynx Systems Limited as a Hardware Design Technologist, in charge of prototyping new products.

Justin holds a B.Sc. Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, is a Microsoft Certified Professional and has completed a number of other industry-specific certifications and courses.

DAVID ROSLANIEC, Vice President of Sales

David Roslaniec joined Virgin Technologies in 2008. With over 13 years in the Telecommunications industry, David has an in-depth understanding of several communication mediums including fiber optics, digital multiplexing and microwave radio technologies.

David spent 10 years with Telus Communications as a Network Specialist, over which time he held several technical positions providing leadership and support at both National and International levels, ultimately leaving Telus as a National Network Manager. David's technical abilities, combined with customer focused business philosophy, have helped him become an integral part of the Virgin Technologies sales team.

David attended the Northern & Southern Alberta Institutes of Technology. He's a Telecommunications Engineering Technologist, a Certified Electronic Technician, and also holds his ticket as a Journeyman Communications Electrician.
